Yet another hospital visit

I had to go back to hospital again this morning. I needed to get an another angiogram and possibly a stent put in. However, the doctor decided not to operate. Instead they put me on a different course of medicine. I was able to go home and did not need to stay the night. My left leg is still sore.

I visit the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne

Today, I travelled down to Melbourne for a consulation at the Alfred Hospital. I had a to see a heart surgeon. We discussed my case. He feels that the best course of action for now, is to keep on the medications that I am on. He told me that surgery is an option, but it is dangerous. So we will stick to medication for now. I do hope that surgery will not be needed.

A somewhat dramatic end to 2025!!!

Well, 2025 has come to an end! Let's just say I had a rather dramatic end to the year. To recap, I started to feel sick on Christmas day. By Saturday, i was getting short of breath so I decided to go to the hospital. By the time that I got there, I was quite sick and the doctors and nurses swarmed all over me and put me into a bed and put all sorts of pipes and tubes up me. I had to spend 3 days in the ICU followed by 2 days on the wards. They removed a bowel obstruction by giving me some fluid. Thankfully, an operation was not needed as that would prove difficult. I went onto the wards for two days and was discharged/ I was told that I might need to have a heart bypass done in Melbourne in the future. Hopefully, that won't prove necessary. I was discharged on Wednesday and sent home. It is good to be out of hospital and I pray that I do not have to go back.

Angiogram

On tuesday 23rd December, I had to enter hospital for an Angiogram. The operation was day surgery and it went well. It was a long and stressful day and I am glad that it is all over. When it was all over, I was picked up by Gary and Carol Davis and stayed the hight with them, which as great.

My first shave from a barber

Yesterday, I did something I have never done before. I went to the barber to get a shave. I was feeling a bit low and thought that I would treat myself to a shave. It cost me $30.00 but it was fun. Souns a bit silly, but it felt good.

A hospital visit.

Today, I paid a visit to the local hospital to get a check up on my heart. The news was not entirely good, unfortunately. The doctor told me that my heat was only pumping at about 55 percent. They have scheduled for mw to come back and have a trachiometry so they can look further. Lwt's hope and pray for the best.

Last night, I attended the Easter passion play which was held at Rosalind Park in Bendigo. It was a performance put on by the local churches and it was a great production. I got to take a few nice photos of the event, which can be seen on my facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/gerard.gates.

A good day at last.

I finally had a good day after a week of frustration. My internet had stopped working for a week or so. However, my good friend Gary Davis helped me to get things up and running again. I now have my internet woes sorted out. And also at last, I got my new debit card from the ANZ. I had ordered it weeks ago and it had not arrived until today.

My mothers funeral

On Tuesday the 17th of December, a funeral was held for my late mother at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, which is located at Clear Island Waters on the Gold Coast. I flew up for the service as did several members of my available family, including brothers, sisters, cousins, her grand children and great grandchildren. The funeral was actually a very nice affair. It was more of a celebration than a bereveament. My wonderful mother was 98 and had a terrific innings. She will be sorely missed, but we know that she is in heaven with dad and my sister Judith right now. I must give the good Lord thanks for such a wonderful mother. Praise the Lord.

Farewell to my beloved mother

I am sorry to report, but on this day, my beloved mother Pauline Mary Gates, passed away at the age of 98. She passed away quietly at a nursing home in Brisbane, Queensland. She was the mother of nine children including Pauline, John, myself, Maryanne, Katherine, Bill, Elizabeth, Patrick and Frances. She was also a grandmother of several children and recently became a great grandmother. My mother was born in 1926 in Sydney and was one of four sisters born to Rupert and Emma Radecki. She married my dad William Gates in 1948 and they later settled in Gymea Bay where I grew up. I won't elaborate any further except to say that she was the best mother anybody could have hoped for and she will be sorely missed by all of us. I am just glad that she had a long innings and was a blessing to everybody who knew her and she will be sorely missed by us all. Goodbye for now my beloved mother. You were the best.

Farewell to our senior pastors

This morning at Connect Church we said goodbye to our senior pastors, Kerrin and Teagan Wallis and their family. Kerrin and Teagan are leaving Bendigo in order to take up a new position in Queensland. It is a sad day for all of us but be we believe it to be God's will in God's time so we wish them all the best for the future. I personally believe it is the start of great new things for this church as they have helped lay a wonderful foundation for the future. May the Lord richly bless them both and their family. Well done guys.

Our senior pastors are leaving at the end of the year

At the end of church this morning, we found out the sad news that our senior pastors Kerrin and Teagan Wallis will be leaving Bendigo in December to take up a ministry in Queensland. This was sad news for our church as Kerrin and Teagan have now been here for nine years and have done wonders for our church. But, they feel it is the right time to move on and we all wish them well in their new mission in Queensland.
